What happened to the attitudes of Germans towards Jews after WW2?

I think they effectively recognized their collective guilt, apologized mentally for it, and went on to become better people. All of which the Japanese did not do. They never apologized for WWII and if you ask them they will tell you that they were the victims. They have understood nothing and we should worry that they will trouble theworld again.
