Explain what a driver feels in a car when something goes wrong with his intake?
I'm a retired GM High performance Technician and Trained many GM Technicians 32 years. Also I am a Race car champion Late model ASA I Don't mean to brag but just giving you my qualifications to answer this question. Pretty much the only thing that can go wrong with a Intake is a gasket. (no moving parts) If the gasket starts leaking it causes a vacuum leak which can be felt at low RPM causing it to be lean .How ever at High RPM the engine will lose Vacuum (normal) Most engines that blow in Nascar are do to driver error IE engine starts to miss and the driver keeps pushing it . Kyle Bush is a good driver but tends to have a excuse for every thing that goes wrong .It's never his fault. Blaming the intake manifold is a childish excuse . It's not what he felt .He might have felt a miss and kept pushing it. Crew chiefs call but ether way he should have pitted to see what was wrong
